On Wednesday, August 19, 2015 two celebrated Chicago restaurants – The Boarding House and Bohemian House – unite to present A Tale of Two Houses with Failla Winery. This special collaboration will take place at The Boarding House (720 N. Wells St.), beginning with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by a seated dinner at 7:00 p.m. The cost to attend is $95 per person, all-inclusive.

A Tale of Two Houses champions the synergies between Chefs Tanya Baker and Jimmy Papadopoulos – both, coincidentally, graduates of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts – while also shining a spotlight on their distinct approaches to food and cooking. The duo will present a five-course, whole hog heritage dinner expressive of Chef Baker’s contemporary cuisine, counterbalanced by the Eastern European sensitibilites for which Chef Papadopulous has become known.

The dinner also includes exclusive wine pairings by Failla Wines, a boutique, family operated winery in Napa, CA that has earned international acclaim for its cool-climate varietals since its 1998 inception. Each course will be matched with special pours from Failla. Brian Miracle from Failla will be on hand to interact with guests and guide selections throughout the evening.

  • Pork Liver Pate - rye bread, tango peaches & sweet onions.
  • Boudin Noir - summer apples, wild rice & chive
  • Fried Boudin - crawfish étouffée
  • Pork Rilette- apple cabbage slaw, brioche, mustard aioli

  • Porchetta di Testa ~ honeycrisp apple, soft herb salad, pickled mustard seeds, apple gastrique

SECOND COURSE

  • Pork Pierogi ~ hungarian cured jowl, tropea onions, carrots & sour cream
  • Failla Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast 2013

THIRD COURSE

  • Sorghum Glazed Pork Belly ~ chanterelles, braised cipollini , melrose peppers, charred corn, basil
  • Failla Pinot Noir, Keefer Ranch, Russian River 2012

FOURTH COURSE

  • Smoked Pork Loin ~ cracked barley, sauerkraut, pickled green tomatoes, horseradish cream, & dill.
  •  Failla Pinot Noir Savoy Vineyard, Anderson Valley 2012

DESSERT

  • Pork fat sablé, dark chocolate custard, spiced chicharron, blueberry lavender jam
